Our Story

Dalfiume Nobilvini (originally Dalfiume & Alberici) was born in 1970 in Castel San Pietro Terme, a land in between Emilia and Romagna. Franco and Gianni Dalfiume were the founders, however three generations are involved in the story of the company; the passion for wine was already firmly established in via Massarenti 74, Bologna, in front of the Sant’Orsola hospital, thanks to the brothers’ father, Odoardo. During the 40s, the wine company bore his name. Ten years later, the business was relocated in the Pontevecchio area. During the first years of the 90s, the third generation takes over and Davide and Silvia Dalfiume start leading the company. During the 70s, the business model changed, switching from a family-run company to a well-structured corporation that is a leader in its sector for both the production and the commercialization of Emilia-Romagna typical wines.

Times change, and so does the market: Dalfiume Nobilvini keeps up with such changes while still concentrating on quality and pursuing the original dream. In the 90s, Gianni and Franco make the decision to change the morphology of the first hill of the Castelli; they buy the best 80 hectares in terms of exposition, character, and expressive potential, and they assign them to Sangiovese, Pignoletto, Trebbiano, Albana, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Barbera Dop – for both Colli d’Imola and Romagna.

This is how Tenuta Poggiolo was born: the first wine company in the family. It is a successful blend of traditional skills and advanced technology that survives today thanks to research, formation, culture, and structure, with the aim of keeping constant the quality of the finished product. During the first harvests, the land gifts excellent grapes that produce 8 wines with a strong personality, bottled in elegantly labeled Villa Poggiolo bottles. The high-quality brand and the elegant and refined design are exclusive to the Horeca market.

Dalfiume Nobilvini produces a variety of wines that include traditional Igp wines (Sangiovese, Lambrusco, Trebbiano, Pignoletto, Barbera, Sauvignon, Bianco del Sillaro), Dop Romagna wines, and Colli d’Imola wines (Sangiovese, Trebbiano, Albana, Pignoletto, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon), all available in different sizes to satisfy the customers’ needs. In 2015 we introduced the DEA Pignoletto Spumante Extra Dry, which features an intense smell and a fresh and fruity flavor, as well as a delicate and refined bottle. The range is further expanded with a delicious Prosecco. Horeca commercializes all the labels, however some are available for the great distribution.

During the past years, the market’s demand for wine commercialized in barrels increases and Dalfiume Nobilvini decides to invest in this new branch of the production by offering their quality wines in a new size. Such lucky investment brought more sales to the company and allowed them to expand the distribution in a new area of the market, where it stood up for remarkable quality, production, and service. Besides the Italian market, which remains the most fascinating and difficult investment of the Dalfiume family, the company went international by serving European countries such as the UK, Spain, Sweden, Germany, Poland, Belgium, as well as extra-European countries that include the US, Japan, Mexico, China, Hong Kong, and Nigeria.

All this was possible by remaining grounded on the present but with a gaze to the past and one to the future. From now on, Dalfiume Nobilvini will follow a successful path that will constantly increase the quality of their wines as well as the image of the company and its labels.
